SEARCHSCHEMA

The structured data that earns rich results and AI citations

Structured data is a small block of code that tells search engines and answer engines exactly what a page is about. It does not change what your visitors see, but it changes how machines understand you, which is what earns rich results and makes your content easier to cite.

What it is

Structured data usually means JSON-LD, a snippet that labels the meaning of your content using the shared vocabulary at schema.org. Instead of a machine guessing that a string is a price, a date or a company name, you tell it plainly. Less guessing means fewer mistakes and more eligibility for enhanced listings.

The types worth adding

Organization. Names your business, logo, contact details and social profiles. It helps build the entity that search engines and models associate with your brand.

WebSite. Identifies the site itself and can enable a search box in results.

Article or BlogPosting. Marks up posts with a headline, author and dates. It is the basis for article rich results and helps answer engines attribute a claim to you.

BreadcrumbList. Shows the page's place in your site, which can produce breadcrumb trails in results and helps machines understand structure.

FAQPage. Pairs questions with answers in a way answer engines can lift directly. This is one of the most useful types for AEO.

LocalBusiness. For anyone serving a place, it adds address, hours and geo data that power local results and map features.

Where teams go wrong

  • Marking up content that is not on the page. Schema must describe what a user can actually see. Faking it risks a penalty.
  • Leaving required fields blank. Incomplete markup often will not qualify for the rich result.
  • Adding it and forgetting it. When the page changes, the schema has to keep up, or it starts describing a page that no longer exists.

The point

Structured data will not rescue thin content. What it does is remove ambiguity, so a strong page gets full credit and becomes easy to quote correctly. We build it in for every project, validated and tied to the real content, so it stays honest as the site grows. Want that on your site? Start a project.
